L'exposition "Icônes de l'art moderne. La Collection Chtchoukine se tiendra à la Fondation Louis Vuitton du 22 octobre 2016 au 20 février 2017.
Constituant l'événement le plus marquant de l'année Franco-Russe 2016 - 2017 du tourisme culturel, l'exposition rend hommage à l'un des plus grands mécènes du début du 20ème siècle, Sergeï Chtchoukine - collectionneur russe visionnaire de l'art moderne français.
Grâce à la généreuse participation du Musée d'Etat de l'Ermitage et du Musée d'Etat des Beaux-Arts Pouchkine, qui ont contribué à l'élaboration du projet, l'exposition présentera un significatif ensemble de cent soixante chefs-d’œuvre d’art moderne.
Parmi les artistes que Chtchoukine a collectionné le long de sa vie figurent les maîtres impressionnistes, postimpressionnistes et modernes, comme Monet, Cézanne, Gauguin, Rousseau, Derain, Matisse ou Picasso, mais aussi de Degas, Renoir, Toulouse-Lautrec ou Van Gogh.
